“How lovely! A virtual bouquet for you, Mum!”… “a WHAT??…”

Thank you for all the lovely comments left on Mum’s recent blog about the suspended service: “Tales from the Bus Stop”. And of course all the Twitter conversations and ideas about how Mum can keep herself amused during her reluctant incarceration at my house where she is unable even to run round the picture rails. We have none, but for that matter, neither does she 😉

‘Words with Friends’ is the biggest hit so far and Mum is playing with a very elite and global bunch! We are experimenting with a Kindle – but turning the pages of a good book is still much preferred. And of course, crosswords.

One definite spin-off is being able to ‘chip away’, with iPad lessons, little and often, in a way that would never have been possible unless we were banged up together.

I am gently encouraging Mum to write about her feelings and experiences, her reluctant acceptance that at 92 she is ‘getting old’. “We’ll see…” is the response so far…

Lee very kindly sent her a beautiful rose.

Alison admired it and thought it would be nice to have a virtual bouquet…

Daffodils painted by Lindsay - I remember how Betty, my Mum-in-law, loved a painted Easter card she received

Daffodils painted by my dear friend Lindsay who passed away June 2014 and was very much loved by all of us, including Mum who enjoyed Lindsay’s art classes

Wow! The power of Twitter and the kindness of the wonderful people we know. Thank you!

And I am pleased to say, Mum is doing a bit better…
